Children
Jesus loves children and so do we. Children and their families are precious to Christ the King, and our primary goal is to create children’s classes and events that are fun, nurture their faith, and assist parents to have conversations at home as children learn and grow.
Whether you are looking for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, or special seasonal events, you will find exciting and welcoming experiences that will suit your family’s needs. Beginning Fall 2021 Sunday School and Confirmation will be following Worship on Sunday mornings. We are working out the details as to what that looks like, but the pandemic gave us an opportunity to pause and rethink how best to meet the needs of families.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a faith formation program for youth and their families. Young people typically begin this program in 6th grade but it is not uncommon to begin later. This 2-year program explores what it means to follow Jesus and practice our faith. This is accomplished by exploring the Biblical narrative, trying a variety of faith practices, wrestling with topics that matter to youth, and engaging in the life and community of Christ the King.
The journey culminates with a rite of Confirmation (Affirmation of Baptism) in which young people declare for themselves that they will live out the promises made for them by their parents and sponsors in their baptism (for those who were baptized as infants). They make a statement of faith in the hope and trust that God will continue to lead and guide them in all the aspects of their lives now and in the future. Confirmation is not the end of the journey, but rather it is a new beginning for a maturing faith.
Youth and Young Adults
Christ the King is a relational congregation – we are people centered rather than program driven. Faith formation and fellowship activities for this age group vary widely depending upon the current makeup of who is involved. Summer service trips, Bible studies, and fun outings help foster relationships and seek to meet the needs of youth and young adults.
Adults
Sunday morning at Christ the King begins with Adult Bible study. Our study is not an academic pursuit of the Bible but an attempt to apply God’s Word in our daily lives. Other opportunities are periodically offered as well.
